AC Milan and Inter Milan have ended up in a thrilling draw of 1-1 match results at the San Siro Stadium and a new chapter of Milan derby was written. Having the most of possession which bore fruit after just 10 minutes into the football match it was Inter who started quiet actively as Hakan Çalhanoglu forced Franck Kessie into a mistake in his own box and cold-bloodedly converted a penalty against his former side.
Rossoneri have won all but one of their 11 Serie A games so far and were never going to lie down and so it proved, as Inter’s goal spurred them into life. Sandro Tonali’s teasing delivery caused havoc in the box and Stefan de Vrij was the unfortunate defender who steered a header past Samir Handanovic to restore the parity just 6 minutes later.
An action packed opening quarter finished with yet another Inter penalty – this time far more clear. Fode Ballo-Toure was turned inside-out by Matteo Darmian and in a desperate attempt to deny Darmian a clear strike on goal, Ballo-Toure fouled the Italian in the area.
Lautaro Martinez stepped forward this time but he was denied by a fantastic Ciprian Tatarusanu save. The Argentine came close to avenging his penalty miss before the break, but as he twisted and turned in the box, he dragged his effort inches wide of the post.
However, the second half was nowhere close to the first in terms of intensity. Simone Inzaghi introduced Arturo Vidal in a desperate bid to claim all three points, and the Chilean almost did so, but two blocks by Pierre Kalulu interfered. The final whistle recorded another riveting Milan derby clash meaning Stefano Pioli’s men remain second in the Serie A standings failing to take an advantage of Napoli’s draw whereas Simone Inzaghi’s side falls 7 points behind the leaders.
