Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer asked striker Edinson Cavani, who won Manchester United 6–2 win over Rome twice, to remain at the club for another season. The Uruguayan international combined with a one-year deal in October, with an option for another 12 months. However, the 34-year-old is uncertain whether it is difficult to stay in England after the first year.

He initially had to spend time apart after he was banned for three matches by the Football Association for a post on social media. The post was considered offensive, although it was accepted that Cavani was not intentionally racist. It is known that Boca Juniors of Argentina are eager to bring Cavani back to South America.

But after scoring twice and getting three assists at United in the semifinal 6–2 Europa League victory over Roma in the first leg, Solskjaer says he is working hard to keep Edinson Cavani at the club.

“He knows my feelings and that I would love to take him here,” Solskjaer said “Edison is more than a hunter and excels on leading channels, is the focal point, and brings others into the game.”

“He is making up for lost time and I am excited about him. We hope to see him here for another year. I am doing my best. I promised him that Old Trafford is a different place with fans.”

“To get that feeling, we have to try. A great place to stay in Manchester. Of course, on nights like this, we hope we can reach the finals and we hope he can be seen here for another year,” United coach added.

Cavani could have hit his first hat-trick for United, but he missed an easy chance, which led to a superb curling shot that lifted the host’s level at the start of the second half.

Anyway, Cavani has scored 12 goals this season, a number only ahead of Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. And with five from his final five matches, he is getting in shape at the right time.
