FC Goa set to beat Al Wahda in AFC Champions League

FC Goa will look to register their best win in the second group match of the AFC Champions League (ACL) against the United Arab Emirates’ Al Wahda Football Club here on Saturday after scoring a historic one point in the previous match.

FC Goa became the first Indian team to score a point in the AFC Champions League after playing a goalless draw against Al Rayan of Qatar in their Group E opening match on Wednesday.

The players of FC Goa under the coaching of Juan Fernando will now want to play the next match differently and they will be expected to score three points against Al Wahda.

Although Abu Dhabi’s team is much better than the Indian rivals and has plenty of experience playing 12 matches in the ACL, FC Goa’s team would like to gain morale from the fact that it has been successful in stopping the relentless attacks against the strong Al Rayan’s team.

In the last match, FC Goa had limited opportunities in front of the rival goal and Fernando wants his players to be more aggressive in this match.

FC Goa coach Fernando spoke before the match against Al Wahda

“We scored a point in the last match and we would definitely like to improve in our next match. But the way we act aggressively, we have to control it. “

He said, “The most important aspect here will be to work unitedly and keep focused.” We did what was needed in the first match. I am happy that the way the team played in defense and we needed a slight improvement in aggression. “

Al Wahda made it to the group stage by defeating Al Zawraa SC of Iraq 2–1 in the playoffs. They suffered a 0–1 loss to Persepolis FC in their opening match on Wednesday.
