PSG turned down Real Madrid offer for Kylian Mbappe

PSG star Kylian Mbappe is highly linked with a football transfer to Real Madrid. Paris Saint-Germain recently signed superstar players from big clubs and is reluctant to let go of Mbappe. Director Leonardo Araujo stated the club had turned down an initial offer from Real Madrid.

“Yeah, I said no to Real verbally. No one is being stopped. If anyone wants to go and our conditions are met, we will see,” Leonardo told RMC Sport. “The offer is considered a far cry from Kylian’s price today. We also give some of this money to Monaco and believe that this offer is not enough.”

“Our position has always been to keep Kylian, to expand our business, that has always been and still is our goal,” the director said. The 22-year-old World Cup winner joined the Paris club from Monaco, originally on loan in 2017, before the deal was finalized in 2018.

The current contract of the Frenchman with PSG will expire on June 30, 2020, and he has neither confirmed to extend his PSG deal nor agreed to the Real Madrid move. Last season he was the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 27 goals while for PSG the 22-year-old has netted 133 goals in 174 games.

Earlier this month, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelai said he hoped Lionel Messi’s arrival at PSG would convince Mbappe to stay at the club. “I think everyone knows Kylian’s future – he wants to win, he wants to win trophies,” Al-Khelai said at a news conference. “He said it publicly, he wants a competitive team and we have the most competitive team in the world. There’s no excuse for him now – he can’t do anything but stay.”
