Messi reached Paris to sign new football contract

Legendary football player Lionel Messi arrived in Paris on Tuesday to sign a new football contract with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). More than 3 lakh people gathered in Paris to welcome Messi. Such a gathering of fans was probably seen for the first time in Paris.

According to the latest transfer news, the 34-year-old Argentine player has agreed to a two-year deal with PSG, with a further option to extend it. As per a source, Messi will get around 35 million euros (about three billion rupees) annually.

Messi’s father Jorge Messi, who is his agent too, has confirmed the news. Before flying to Paris, Jorge Messi answered the questions at the El-Prat Airport, according to La Sexta journalist Maria Garrido. When asked if Leo will sign for PSG today, he simply responded “Yes”. He was then asked whether his son is sad. “Haven’t you seen him?” – replied the father.

After Barcelona’s contract expires, Messi became the biggest player available for a club in football history. PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino was in touch with Messi after parting ways with Barcelona, and now the deal has been completed. When the Spanish Football League’s new season starts later this week, for the first time in 17 years, great player Lionel Messi will not be a part of it.

When no official deal was announced PSG uploaded a short video highlighting that Lionel Messi’s transfer to the club is nearly complete. Paris Saint-Germain teased the Argentina superstar’s impending arrival on Twitter. Watch the teaser here.

Leaving Spanish League La Liga, Messi now steps into a new adventure of his life joining Ligue 1. He will now play alongside his old teammate Neymar, whom he defeated in Copa America as Argentina defeated Brazil.
