Mbappe breaks Messi record of youngest player scoring 30 Champions League goal

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) beat Club Brugge 4-1 (match score) with the help of two goals each from Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe. With this, Mbappe has become the youngest player to score 30 goals in the history of the Champions League. The Paris Saint-Germain star has achieved this position at the age of 22 years 352 days. Mbappe breaks the record of Messi, who did this feat at the age of 23 years 131 days. Messi made this record in the year 2010. Mbappe has scored 11 goals in 22 matches for PSG this season while scoring 14 assists.

The Frenchman who now plays for PSG was earlier this year close to a move to Real Madrid. In an interview with Amazon Prime, Thierry Henry was able to get Mbappe to open on the events of this past summer, including the failed move from PSG to Real Madrid. Mbappe said, “I talked a lot with my parents and I knew that I wanted to leave. My parents told me to concentrate on the pitch. Looking back, perhaps I had placed too much energy on other things.”

Henry prodded further, asking Mbappe if he was upset or disappointed not being granted a move this summer. “I was a bit disappointed. It’s not easy, but whatever happens, I know I am going to play for a great club. I am Parisian, I feel great, but I wanted to discover something different.”

Henry also asked Mbappe if his Spanish was any good to this, the 22-year-old forward responded, “Yes, it’s very good. It’s because I want to be a great player, a public figure and someone important. Today, you can’t want to be an international star and only speak French, that doesn’t make sense. You have to know how to adapt, in all circumstances.”
