Union Berlin and Wolfsburg secured victory in the third round of Bundesliga. Here is a brief match update of Bundesliga third-round games played on Sunday. At An der alten Försterei stadium, Union Berlin beat Borussia Monchengladbach in the Bundesliga 3rd round.
Niko Giesselmann took the lead scoring the opening goal in the 22 minutes of the game and the hosts left the rival team no chance. Just 20 minutes later Taiwo Awoniyi doubled the score in 41 minutes.
The Union boss Urs Fischer proved to be a good strategist providing the right substitutes in the second half and keeping three points. However, the guests managed to score in an injury time but nevertheless couldn’t escape the defeat.
As for the second clash of the day, Wolfsburg – quite unexpectedly for all the German fans – secured a victory over the last Bundesliga season vice-champions RB Leipzig with Jerome Roussillon scoring the winner in the second half placing the guests only 10th in the standings.
