Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has praised the club’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick amid reports of squad unhappiness.

Following the 1-0 defeat against Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday night, which was the German’s first defeat as United boss, several reports of squad unrest have come to the surface.

The Times report that the 63-year-old has turned to Mike Phelan to help to unite the Manchester United dressing room.

Luke Shaw felt United were not ‘together’ in the defeat against Bruno Lage’ side, and the Mail claims that there are as many as 17 first-team players ‘unhappy’ in a divided squad, which is seeing an increase in cliques forming.

However, United’s number 20 has come to the defence of Rangnick and has praised the German’s “superb communication skills.

During the campaign, the Portuguese international hadn’t started a Premier League game under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Still, the arrival of Rangnick saw the attack-minded Dalot initially favoured over Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He started all three of Rangnick’s opening trio of Premier League matches before coming off the bench against
Burley, and being an unused substitute in the defeat to Wolves.

Dalot said: “It’s been a joy to have the opportunity to play more, to help the team more and give my football to the team, which is why I’m here.”

Although United are yet to see Rangnick’s famed ‘gegenpressing’ philosophy come to fruition, barring an impressive period of play against Crystal Palace, in the German’s first game in charge, Dalot has praised his ability
to ‘communicate’.

Dalot added: “Every time you change managers, it’s a new opportunity and a new experience. He’s a very experienced coach with a lot of years in football.

“His philosophy is perfect in terms of the way that he communicates with everyone and the way he expresses his thoughts to us.”
