They killed the game off in injury time with a penalty after Rodrygo was brought down by Lejeune.

Benzema stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way with his spot-kick to make it 3-0 and secure the three points for his side.

Benzema kills the game off. The striker sends the keeper the wrong way and makes it 3-0 with a confident penalty past Pacheco.

What lies ahead for Real Madrid and Deportivo Alaves?

That three points for the hosts means that they extend their lead at the top of La Liga to seven points over second-placed Sevilla.

They travel to Rayo Vallecano next to maintain control of the title race.

Defeat for the visitors keeps them in 19th position, four points off safety.

They travel to Getafe next as they look to get some points on the board in their fight against relegation.
