Inter’s two-game losing streak was ended by a last-second volley from Marcelo Brozovic, who acknowledged that they needed a win.
After he secured a 1-0 victory for Inter over Torino in the 89th minute, Marcelo Brozovic praised the team’s tenacity.
Due to some late heroics at San Siro, the Serie A heavyweights were able to return to the top four after Simone Inzaghi’s team put up a particularly lackluster effort.
The Nerazzurri were hoping to pick up an important three points this weekend after losing to Milan in the derby a week earlier, then falling to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
In his postgame remarks, Brozovic did not downplay how important it is to come out on top, and he expressed the hope that the team can utilize it as a springboard to a longer run.
Marcelo Brozovic told DAZN:
“This is a really important victory, because it is a tough match.
“Torino are one-on-one all over the field. It was difficult.
“We needed this. In some games, we [have been] unable to do what we wanted.
“Now, we need to keep going and win. It is a victory for all of us and we hope for more.”
Inzaghi reiterated the significance of the outcome and lauded his players for their readiness to suffer setbacks along the road.
Marcelo Brozovic added:
“We knew that we’d have to suffer today.
“Our fans were with us to the end. I liked the fighting spirit. Games like this are very, very important to win.
“I wanted this, for us to get back to winning ways. We know the pressure is always on. Seeing the team work together in difficult circumstances, that is the most pleasing for a coach.”
Inter will be facing Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League.
