Aston Villa has suffered a coronavirus outbreak.

The club reported that after the results of COVID-19 tests showed a large number of core team players and club staff were infected with the coronavirus, they closed Bodymoor Heath training ground. These tests were passed on Monday.

Later the club conducted a second round of testing in which more positives were found.

Villa is due to play Liverpool in the FA Cup today. The team’s pre-match training session has been canceled.

The club is in talks with representatives of the Football Association of England and the Premier League about the situation.
