Vinicius scored his first hattrick for Real Madrid

The full-time whistle puts Levante out of their misery, as the great champions ruthlessly relegate them to the capital. Real’s two second-half goals, both scored in the latter stages by Vinicius, saw Levante hit for six, and it could’ve been much more for Real, with Cardenas making ten saves in the Levante goal.

The champions prepare for their upcoming Champions League final in some style, with a relentless performance that saw them put Levante well and honestly to the sword.

Starting lineup:

REAL MADRID (4-3-3): Thibaut Courtois; Lucas Vazquez, Jesus Vallejo, Nacho, Ferland Mendy; Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric; Rodrygo, Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior.

LEVANTE (5-3-2): Daniel Cardenas; Jorge Miramon, Rober Pier, Sergio Postigo, Martin Caceres, Son; Nemanja Radoja, Pepelu, Gonzalo Melero; Dani Gomez, Jose Luis Morales.

1-0. Deep in his half in the left-back position, Modric turns away from Radoja with ease and plays a beauty of a pass over the top. Mendy has raced onto it from left-back and streaks clear, slotting it beyond Cardenas and into the bottom corner.

2-0.Vinicius cuts inside from the left and crosses from the byline. Benzema runs onto it and rises high to head it into the back of the net from the far post.

3-0. Real cut out a Levante counter-attack, and Rodrygo heads into the box. He finds Modric outside him, who sprays it into the danger area, where Rodrygo has a tap-in on the line and buries it.

4-0. Vinicius and Modric play a quick one-two, and Vinicius dribbles down the left, shooting low from a tight angle and beating Cardenas as the ball nestles in the far corner.

5-0. Vinicius wins the ball in midfield, and Real play forward again at lightning speed. Benzema feigns shooting several times as he rounds Cardenas before squaring the ball to Vinicius, who taps it into an empty net.

6-0. Real win the ball in Levante’s half, and Jovic stabs it through for Vinicius, who smashes a low shot underneath Cardenas and into the bottom corner!!! Six of the best for the champions.

So, what’s next?

Real’s unassailable lead at the top grows further, as does their now +49 goal difference.

They’ll have their sights on the horizon, the Champions League final no less soon enough, though.

The horizon is a trapdoor for Levante, whose negative head-to-head record with 17th placed side, Cadiz, means they are relegated with two games left.

The worst defence in the league, which was on the whole show tonight, has hindered them throughout the season.
