Valencia CF has instructed Albert Celades with the immediate effect of his withdrawal from his position

Coach Albert Celades’ sacking, with Voro Gonzalez being placed on the side’s temporary charge, announced Valencia.

Celades, who had held roles in the Spain youth coaching set-up and Real Madrid, took over the reins at Mestalla in September, after Marcelino’s departure.

Since the resumption of Spanish football in recent weeks, they have won just one of their four matches and lost to local rivals Villarreal on Sunday.

They have given up the services of the 44-year-old, and are currently at eighth position in La Liga.

“Valencia CF has informed Albert Celades with immediate effect of his withdrawal from his position as the first-team coach,” a club statement read.

“The club would like to publicly thank him for his work and dedication during his time at the club-a period in which we achieved qualification for the Champions League knockout stages and important victories on grounds where we had not previously won.”

“Since he took over as coach of the first team in a difficult time, the club also value his help and contribution and wish him every success in his future endeavors.”

“From Tuesday, Voro Gonzalez will provisionally take charge of the first team through to the end of this season.”
