Tottenham, Barcelona, and Napoli after Azzedine Ounahi

Tottenham, Barcelona, and Napoli after Azzedine Ounahi. Moroccan midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, who is already on the radar of Barcelona and SSC Napoli, is supposedly a target for Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs are the newest team to enter the competition to recruit the Angers SCO player, who had a standout 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign in Qatar, according to La Repubblica (via talkSPORT). The athlete, according to the article, is eager to take on a new challenge, although his present contract with Angers expires in 2026.

In Qatar last month, Ounahi was crucial to helping Morocco finish in fourth place. The 22-year-old started six of the Atlas Lions’ seven games in the competition and has shown exceptional maturity for his age. He generated one significant opportunity and 0.9 critical passes on average per game. In his role as a holding midfielder, Ounahi gave Morocco a lot of vigor and bite.

In seven appearances, he recorded nine tackles, seven interceptions, and an average of 0.6 possessions gained. The Angers midfielder also had ten dribbles and 16 shot-creating moves. His supporting statistics shed some light on why some of the biggest clubs in Europe are said to be interested in signing him.

According to reports, Ounahi is seen by Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez as the ideal Sergio Busquets successor. Busquets’ contract at Camp Nou expires this summer, and the seasoned Spaniard is rumored to be interested in joining the MLS. Once Busquets leaves, Barcelona may depend heavily on Ounahi’s ability to win the ball back and advance the ball, two things he has mastered over the years.

The aforementioned report also stated that Tottenham is eager to strengthen its team. Fifth in the Premier League, Antonio Conte’s team has had trouble stopping opposition midfield attacks frequently this year. Not only may Ounahi assist in that regard, but he could also provide food for players like Son Heung-min and Harry Kane in the final third. Furthermore, according to reports, Napoli sees Ounahi as a potential replacement for Diego Demme, a 31-year-old whose contract ends in the summer of 2024.
