Thibaut Courtois won Yachine Trophy as world’s best goalkeeper

Thibaut Courtois, a Real Madrid player and the world’s greatest goalkeeper, has received the Yachine Trophy as world’s best goalkeeper for 2022. Throughout the 2021–22 season, the Belgian international was in commanding form for Los Blancos, recording 22 shutouts across all competitions and allowing just 46 goals. These efforts enabled Carlo Ancelotti’s team to win both La Liga and the Champions League.

Having gained a reputation as one of the finest in the world while playing for Chelsea, Courtois went to Madrid in 2018. At the age of 30, he is still pushing the boundaries of his sport. After defeating Alisson, Ederson, Edouard Mendy, Manuel Neuer, Jan Oblak, Kevin Trapp, Hugo Lloris, Mike Maignan, and Yassine Bounou, he won the Yachine Trophy.

Alisson, the No. 1 goalkeeper for Liverpool, received the Yachine Trophy—awarded to recognize the accomplishments of goalies—for the first time in 2019. Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris Saint-Germain topped the charts in 2021 after helping Italy win the Euro 2020 championship; there was no award given out in 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Real is aiming to defend its national and continental championships in 2022–23, and Courtois will represent Belgium at the World Cup finals in Qatar as part of the so-called “Golden Generationquest “to live up to high expectations.
