Real Madrid is close to a ‘final agreement’ with Monaco to sign highly-rated midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
The French international has long been linked with a move away from Ligue 1 side Monaco, having burst onto the scene with some wonderful performances at both club and international levels in recent seasons.
Real Madrid had been locked in talks with Monaco regarding Tchouameni.
But the clubs had been some way off in their evaluation of the 22-year-old.
The European champions had entered talks hoping to sign the player for £50m.
But Monaco was keen to hold out for around £68m.
In terms of personal terms, Tchouameni agreed on these with Real Madrid, PSG, Liverpool and Chelsea.
But made it clear in the last week that his preference was to join the newly-crowned European champions.
Recently in an interview with CNN, the French starlet stated that he ‘just wants to win’:
“I’m an ambitious person. Every time I do something…I just want to win,” he said. “If I want to be great, I have to adapt to find some stuff that will allow me to grow as a player.
“I like both [countries]: I can watch Spanish games and English games. It’s different to play in Spain and it’s different to play in England, but at the end, for me, it’s just a matter of adaptation.”
With the profile of a destroying number six and the technical ability of a number eight.
Tchouameni can play in a single pivot, a double pivot or as a number eight in equal measure.
And could easily replace Casemiro, Luka Modric or Toni Kroos on any given matchday. That is almost invaluable.
Not only does the player want the club, but the club also wants the player and it has the making of a perfect duo.
