UEFA ChampionshipShakhtar Donetsk 1-1 Celtic

Shakhtar Donetsk 1-1 Celtic

Full time, despite the points shared between Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic.

The visitors will feel that it’s two dropped after squandering many chances in that second half.

Maeda, Giakoumakis and Jota (twice) went so close, but the Bhoys couldn’t keep their composure to find that elusive winner.

Shakhtar was lucky to hold on for a draw but defended well enough to be happy with their gained point.

Despite being second-best throughout the second half.

GOOOAAALLLL!!!! Celtic take the lead!!!! After Juranovic steps in to intercept a Shakhtar counter-attack, he hoofs it wide to Haksabanovic. He finds Hatate running ahead of him, and the latter’s threatening cross deflects off Bondarenko and rolls across the goal line!!! 1-0 to the visitors, a goal that’s certainly been coming!

GOOOOAAAALLLLL!!! There’s the equaliser, and what a goal it is!!!! Sudakov picks the ball up in midfield and plays an optimistic through ball forward, but Mudryk is steaming onto it behind Juranovic and blasts the ball beyond Hart’s reach!!! 1-1 in Warsaw, and what a reaction from Shakhtar!

So, what’s next?

Shakhtar Donetsk impressed greatly and topped the group following their 4-1 win over Leipzig.

Celtic’s point gets them on the board, but they’ll rue their missed chances that prevented that point from being three.
