United fans set to protest outside Old Trafford

Manchester United is scheduled to play against Liverpool on Sunday for their Premier League match and according to the Athletic thousands of Manchester United fans are set to protest outside Old Trafford.

Among six Premier League teams that agreed to the breakaway Super League, Manchester United was one but like every other team the Red Devils also dropped out following a strong backlash from supporters around the country.

Although for the time being, we seem to be safe from the controversial Super League, the outrage directed at those participating in the preparations has not subsided. About 10,000 fans are set to descend on Old Trafford to express their dissatisfaction with the club’s leadership.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unconcerned although the number is considerably greater than the number of United supporters who demonstrated against the Glazer family’s control of the club a week ago.

Even though he’ll be completely concentrated on preparing his side to face Jurgen Klopp’s charges, Solskjaer said it’s necessary for the club to listen to supporters’ concerns in his pre-match press conference.

“It’s important that the fans’ views are listened to and that we communicate better,” Solskjaer said. “My job is to focus on the football side and that we have the best possible team.”

“As I’ve said before, I’ve been backed, I’ve had great support from the club and the owners and I’m sure I will get the backing again to go one step further. But I’m so happy that all the clubs agreed that this shouldn’t be the way of moving forward.”

“Then again, when the protests are on, it’s important that they go in a good fashion and that we keep it peaceful.”

In the last match played at Old Trafford for Europan League, Manchester United defeated Roma with a 6-2 win in the first leg of the semi-finals.
