Tottenham completed the signing of Joe Rodon from Swansea City for a reported fee that could total £15million.
The Wales international defender signed a five-year contract with Jose Mourinho’s side.
Swansea brought in Ryan Bennett from Wolves on a three-year deal as Rodon’s replacement.
Rodon, who had previously been linked with West Ham, has played 52 Championship games for Swansea, since breaking into the first team during the 2018-19 season.
He’s the eighth signing of a busy transfer window for Mourin for Spurs, who face West Ham on Sunday in the Premier League.
Sergio Reguilon, Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Carlos Vinicius, Joe Hart, and Gareth Bale have also been signed by Spurs, in addition to making Giovani Lo Celso’s move from Real Betis permanent.
The signing of Rodon takes their reported transfer expenditure to a little less than £ 100 million, less than seven months after their initial decision to impose a 20 percent pay cut on 550 employees due to the coronavirus pandemic’s financial impact.
Spurs announced in April that for April and May, all employees, including those placed on furlough, would receive 100 percent of their salary and that the board would take wage cuts instead, following criticism.
Meanwhile, for the rest of the 2020-21 season on loan, Spurs defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has moved to Bournemouth.
