Tottenham beat Southampton in Mason’s first match as interim coach

Tottenham Hotspur beat Southampton 2–1 in the English Premier League (EPL) match, thanks to a decisive goal from injury time by South Korean forward Son Heung Min. Reportedly, Tottenham Hotspur, playing their first match after taking over the coaching of interim head coach Ryan Masson, has started with a win under Maison’s guidance.

Mason, a 29-year-old former midfielder from hotspur, is the club’s youngest coach. He replaces Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by the club. Southampton took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal by Denny Ings in the 30th minute.

There was nothing the Spurs captain could do less than half an hour later, however, when Danny Ings fired over after a James Ward-Prowse center-back. The Englishman scored his tenth goal of the season.

Gareth Bell scored in the second half in the 60th minute to give Tottenham Hotspur a 1–1 score. Min then scored on a penalty in the 90th minute to give the team a thrilling 2–1 victory. After this win, Tottenham move up to number six while Southampton remain at number 14.

Son proved crucial in the absence of the injured Harry Kane. The Korean first scored after being played in by Sergio Reguilon, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR analysis.

Later, the Spaniard was fouled by Moussa Djenepo in the penalty area and it was Son who took advantage of the eleven to ensure Tottenham’s victory.

After this win, Tottenham moves up to number six while Southampton remains at number 14.
