Roma shortlisted Allegri and Sarri for head coach

Roma shortlisted Allegri and Sarri for head coach

The Romans were beaten 0-2 by Parma on Matchday 27 of Serie A and dropped their place in the top-four. Now they are sitting in 6th place, 2 points behind fourth-placed Atalanta.

Under head coach Paulo Fonseca, Roma owner Dan Friedkin is unhappy with the team’s performance this season, Corriere dello Sport.

Qualifying in the Champions League next season will highly decide Fonseca’s future at Roma. In Serie A, top-four sides qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League.

Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are on Roma’s shortlist for the head coaching job. Friedkin’s entourage is also considering several candidates from outside Italy.

Fonseca himself doesn’t want to leave and would like to continue with Roma, with his contract automatically renewed if he reaches the Champions League. The Portuguese have been coaching the team since 2019.
