Champions League winner of last season, Bayern Munich lost to PSG in the first leg of the quarter-finals after a phenomenal performance. Kylian Mbappe leads PSG with doubles against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League winner quarter-finals first leg.
Munich’s suffered a home defeat to French giants, however, the champions struggled hard and gave a head-to-head competition to win the thrilling match.
PSG took the lead in the initial minutes of the game with an early goal from Kylian Mbappe in three minutes. Mbappe’s strike was headed in by Neymar, who made a quick run down the right to the Frenchman, who beat Manuel Neuer with the first ball of the game.
Later in the 9th minute, Leon Goretzka came with an excellent shot for Bayern Munich but his shot was blocked.
The pace of the game was unbeatably high. Another goal for the Parisians was netted by Marquinhos in the 28th minute. Neymar attempted to send a long ball into the box. Marquinhos rushed forward to meet Neymar’s cross and found the back of the net with a simple finish.
Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, and Thomas Mueller all had great opportunities to equalize, but Keylor Navas had the upper hand in both situations.
Bayern didn’t lose their spirit and tried to compete PSG with a goal from Choupo-Moting in the 37th minute. The Cameroonian scored the contact goal with his head.
Thoms Muller equalized in the 60th minute after the change of sides, it was a precise pass from the right again.
However, Kylian Mbappe had the last word in the match, as in the 68th minute he outmuscled the Munich defenders and deceived the opponents with a superbly accurate strike towards the near post, bringing the score to 3-2.
The Bavarians were unusually tense in the final minutes and laid siege to Navas’ goal, but ultimately failed to secure a draw.
The Germans and the Parisians will play next on April 14, Wednesday for the return leg.
