Inter Milan crowned Scudetto champions after 11 years

Inter Milan won Italy’s Football League Serie-A title on Sunday when second-placed Atlanta in the points table played a 1–1 draw with Sassuolo. After this match, when it was announced that Inter Milan had become champions and was crowned Scudetto title, the fans started celebrating. Inter Milan has won the Serie-A title for the first time since 2010, while it is also their first title trophy since 2011. They won the Serie-A title for the 19th time in total.

Inter, who beat Croton 2–0 on Saturday, needed Atlanta to drop points at Emilia-Romagna to claim the title. If Atlanta won the match, then it could have kept Inter away from winning the title based on mathematical calculations as the team has four more matches to play. Atalanta equals 69 points with AC Milan in third place, two points ahead of Napoli.

With this, Inter ended the dominance of Juventus, the team of veteran striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who won this title for the ninth time in a row. Inter Milan had beaten Croton 2–0 on Saturday late night.

Antonio Conte’s team lost just two of the 34 matches this season and have been invincible since January 6. It was Inter Milan’s first tournament in any tournament since 2011, and the first Serie A trophy since 2010 when it also won the Champions Trophy and the Italian Cup.

Inter Milan won the Serie A title after 11 years and topped the table with 82 points, 13 points more than second-placed Atlanta (69).

Inter broke Juventus’ record of nine consecutive Siri A title wins. Juventus have been denied their tenth back-to-back league title and are now fighting for a place in the Champions League. The Old Lady club is ranked fifth before playing for Udinese later on Sunday.
