Gundogan believes Guardiola can succeed Joachim Low

Pep Guardiola from Manchester City is a suitable contender to replace Joachim Low as Germany’s coach, according to Ilkay Gundogan.

If German national team manager Joachim Low becomes available, Ilkay Gundogan will welcome the appointment of Pep Guardiola as his replacement.

Earlier this month, Low announced that he would step down his job as the national team’s coach after the postponed European Championship finals, which are set to start in June.

Under the Catalan, Gundogan has played the last five seasons at the Etihad Stadium and is having his best season in terms of goal involvements.

“I would personally hire him instantly but I think that would be difficult as he is not currently available,” he said at a news conference on Tuesday according to the beINSports.

“I also don’t know if I would like to be without him at City. Besides, I owe a lot to Joachim and I want him to leave on a high.”
