Chelsea vs Real Madrid lineup and prediction

Real Madrid set to visit Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final battle against Chelsea on Wednesday night. The tie is delicately balanced after a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano last week, in which Christian Pulisic’s opener was canceled out by an equally impressive Karim Benzema end. Know everything about Chelsea vs Real Madrid lineup and prediction.

Team news

Chelsea lineup: Mendy; Silva, Rudiger, Christensen; Azpilicueta, Jorginho, Kante, Chilwell; Mount, Pulisic; Havertz

Thomas Tuchel will expect to get Antonio Rudiger back for the visit of Real Madrid after missing the 2-0 victory over Fulham due to a knock.

Chelsea could field the same lineup as in the first leg but Mateo Kovacic is ruled out for the hosts.

On the offensive line, Timo Werner will play alongside Christian Pulisic.

Kai Havertz, who scored twice against the Cottagers, would be pressing to take the lead.

Real Madrid lineup: Courtois; Odriozola, Militao, Nacho, Mendy; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; Asensio, Benzema, Vinicius Jr

Eden Hazard’s appearance against his former club is uncertain after he had a poor performance against Osasuna on Saturday.

Alvaro Odriozola could start at right-back or as a wing-back as a result of the absences of Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal if Zinedine Zidane opts for a three-man backline once more.

Sergio Ramos, who had intended to play against Osasuna but was not included in the squad at the weekend, is also a doubt for the visitors.

Marcelo will participate in the Madrid Assembly elections as a polling station volunteer although he was supposed to sit out the Chelsea game entirely

Away goal would be a relief for Thomas Tuchel’s side after Chelsea drew 1-1 in rain-soaked Madrid last week. Los Blancos’ chances of reaching the Champions League final were boosted when Karim Benzema scored a splendid equalizer at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano.

We can expect a slim victory for Tuchel’s crop as they prepare to travel to Istanbul as such a tactic could expose Zidane’s men to Chelsea’s pace on the offensive, and the Blues aren’t exactly known for their defense.

Our Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Real Madrid
