Barcelona beat Sevilla 3-0 at the Camp Nou after extra time in the return match of the semifinals of the Spanish Football Cup, thus compensating for the 0-2 defeat from the first game.
The Seville footballers will regret the opportunity they missed at Camp Nou for a long time to come. The Andalusians dropped 2-0 from the first game, missed a penalty kick, lost players in the very end, and conceded the second goal in the fourth minute of overtime.
In the 12th minute, Barcelona took the lead with a beautiful goal by Ousmane Dembele. The French striker hit the right “fork” next to the helpless Thomas Vaclik from the edge of the penalty area. The home side could have annulled the lead from the first game in the 67th minute, but Jordi Alba hit the post on Dembele’s cross.
Sevilla had a chance to solve everything when Oscar Mingueza knocked down Lucas Ocampos in the 73rd minute and referee Jose Sanchez pointed to the white spot. The Argentine himself took the penalty kick and it was desperate. Marc-Andre ter Stegen easily put the ball away.
In the referee’s compensation, the guests suffered a new blow when Fernando was sent off for a second yellow card. In the action that followed, Barca scored 2-0 through Gerard Pique and thus equalized the result from the first game, pushing the match into overtime.
With a player more, Barca took the lead in the 95th minute. Alba scored, and Martin Braithwaite, who came in in the 89th minute, scored 3-0 on the first post.
Barcelona will play in the final against the winner of the match Levante – Athletic Bilbao, and the first match ended 1-1.
