The Liga giants are also eager to reach an arrangement for Argentine and Barcelona has no intention of activating the €111 million (£100m/$125 m) release clause of Inter’s Lautaro Martinez deal, Goal reports.
Club President Josep Maria Bartomeu told RAC1 when asked about the rumored interest that Barca has in Lautaro: “I’m not concerned about transactions. We didn’t mark the contracts in the calendar for when they will be done.”
In the meantime, Inter Chief Executive Giuseppe Marotta told DAZN that the Series A outfit “does not want to sell their champions unless the player wants to leave.”
Barca believes that an agreement can be reached but, taking into account the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, they see the asking price of the 22-year-old as considerably lower than his current mark.
With Goal announcing back in April that a lucrative deal for Lautaro is being planned, they were busy working together preparations for some summer company behind the scenes.
The Catalans are hoping these terms will help their cause, in the next window the club being unable to splash €111 m on one player even if they wanted to.
With the player being understood to be open for talks to be transferred, Barca’s plan is to bring down the price tag for Lautaro.
