This season in the Premier League Stones has made only 12 appearances and Guardiola talked looking to make a move for him.

Newcastle United will see the news come as a huge boost.

Magpies had talks to sign the City defender whereas Newcastle was also interested in him, claimed Nicolo Schira, a reliable journalist and transfer expert back in May.

On Wednesday with a great 4-1 win over Bournemouth, the Magpies secured their safety in the Premier League.

Stones would be a great signing for them, but the transfer strategy for Newcastle will depend largely on whether the takeover is going to go through.
