Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane and Napoli’s Gennaro Gattuso are considered possible applicants for the head coach job at Juventus as the Bianconeri will sack Andrea Pirlo despite the club’s result this season.
Juve president Andrea Agnelli has long wanted to sign the French coach, he had also initiated negotiations with Zidane in 2019 but the specialist agreed to return to Real Madrid.
The Old Lady can’t afford to miss out on a top-four finish, but earning a Champions League spot is not the only condition for the Maestro’s permanence at the club.
As Zidane earns €12m a year at Madrid, the 48-year-old coach’s salary could be a barrier to an invitation because Juventus are dealing with cost-cutting amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Therefore signing Gattuso would be easier and much more affordable. The 48-year-old is anticipated to leave Napoli at the end of the season. His agent Jorge Mendes is on good terms with Juventus’ management and that could help in negotiations.
According to Tuttosport, Zinedine Zidane and Gennaro Gattuso have emerged as potential candidates to take over Pirlo’s responsibilities.
Lately, Zizou is rumored to leave Real Madrid as the players in the dressing room sense that tired Zidane cannot lead the team anymore and can step down from his job by the end of the season. While the management of the club is hoping him to continue until his contract expires in 2022.
The return of Massimiliano Allegri to Juventus is also not ruled out. However, the Italian’s arrival at the club would lead to the resignation of sporting director Fabio Paratici and vice-president Pavel Nedved.
In Serie A standings Juventus are currently sitting in joint 2nd-4th place with Atalanta and AC Milan. Recently the Old Lady club failed to achieve its 10th consecutive Scudetto, they have won nine Serie A titles in a row. This season Inter Milan won the Scudetto after 11 years since 2010.
