Juventus was ‘representing excellence’ said Bosnian international Miralem Pjanic and announced that he could make a move to the Allianz Stadium in 2014.
In July 2016 the former Roma player arrived for €32 m, having established himself as one of the leading midfielders in Serie A, and since his move to Turin, he has picked up three Scudetti, two Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana.
But the 30-year-old said that he had decided to postpone his transfer because of the great competition at Bianconeri, after moving from Olympique Lyonnais he spent five seasons with Giallorossi after moving from Olympique Lyonnais.
Pjanic told Sonny Anderson on Instagram “I could have moved to Juventus two years earlier,”.
“I thought that I would be among the best of the time. There were [Andrea] Pirlo, [Paul] Pogba, [Arturo] Vidal, and the other exceptional players.
“They worked wonderfully. Going directly into that context would have been complicated for me. It was better for me to stay in Rome with Rudi Garcia.
“We were a good team, strong, but not like Juventus. They had a great environment. Then I said to myself that the time had come to enter the world of Juve.
“When you enter the dressing room and see the names of the legends, you can tell that the club has a great history,” he said. “There’s the DNA of victory in everything. This club represents perfection, it’s winning because it works harder than the others.
The Champions League title has eluded the Old Lady since 1995-96, and Pjanic has acknowledged that Bianconeri would ‘need some luck’ to go all the way when the tournament resumes.
“Juventus’ goal will be to win it. We will also need some luck, to have the whole team available. We are one of the five or six teams who want to take it home.”
