WHAT A GOAL FROM CORREA! SIMPLY SUBLIME! ATLETICO! A candidate for goal of the season at the Estadio de la Ceramica as Parejo’s square pass is intercepted by the Atleti forward inside the centre circle. Correa spots Rulli off his line and his 50-yard shot loops over the goalkeeper’s head and into the empty net! 1-0.

VILLARREAL SCORE AND THIS TIME IT WILL STAND! Parejo whips the free-kick in with his right foot and sends it directly towards Oblak, who is unable to catch the delivery cleanly. He spills the ball and presents it to Torres – who slots it between the goalkeeper’s legs from close range. 1-1.

ALBERTO MORENO GIVES VILLARREAL THE LEAD!  Torres‘ long pass from defence is won in the air by Alberto Moreno, who nods it to Capoue with his head before continuing his run. The midfielder passes it square to Gerard Moreno, who immediately clips it forward for the run of the left-winger. He beats Felipe for pace and tucks his shot between the legs of Oblak – giving the hosts the advantage.2-1.

ATLETI EQUALISE! Carrasco puts a low cross into the penalty area for Correa, who swivels and hits a shot towards goal which is stopped by the legs of Rulli. The rebound trickles to the edge of the 18-yard box where Kondogbia latches onto it ahead of Parejo and hammers a shot that beats the goalkeeper. 2-2.

What’s next for both the club?

Villarreal is in action again next Sunday when they travel to face Elche in LaLiga, while Atletico Madrid host Athletic Bilbao in the Super Cup on Thursday.
