After agreeing to maintain a € 36 million release clause in the contract, Cagliari is reportedly close to announcing a new deal for Nahitan Nandez.
Cagliari was trying to remove the release clause in his deal, but earlier this year the Uruguayan midfielder confirmed he would extend with them.
The two parties have now reached an agreement on his personal terms and that the new agreement will still contain a release clause, claimed Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio from Sky Sport Italia.
Napoli was linked to the midfielder, believed to monitor his situation in Sardinia, and ready to trigger the buy-out clause.
Since his arrival in the Sardegna Arena last summer, the former Boca Juniors star has been a steady performer and has been pivotal in the early months, helping the Rossoblu to get their best start since the Scudetto winners in 1969-70.
