Six players favourite to win Golden Boot at Euro 2020

Euro 2020 is right around the corner, scheduled to begin next month on June 11 and will run until July 11. The European competition got delayed to global pandemic – COVID-19. During the European Championship, many of the world’s best strikers will be on display and there will be a fierce race to top the goal list. We have shortlisted players who are likely to win the Golden Boot at Euro 2020.

  1. Harry Kane

At the 2018 World Cup Harry Kane earned the Golden Boot with six goals, and now England’s striker is favorite to replicate that feat at Euro 2020. Kane scored 12 goals in qualification, and as England’s penalty taker, he has a good chance of repeating as top scorer. On the final day of the domestic season, his goal against Leicester earned him the Premier League title once more, and England’s home advantage in the tournament could help his chances.

  1. Romelu Lukaku

Another striker who is in excellent form heading into Euro 2020 is Romelu Lukaku after scoring 24 goals in Serie A as Inter Milan snatched Juventus’ tenth consecutive title victory. Former Manchester United striker has more than 50 goals in his name for his country as he approaches a century of appearances and has scored seven goals in qualifying.

  1. Cristiano Ronaldo

There isn’t much more to say about a player who has won the FIFA Ballon d’Or five times. The 12-month delay to the competition will not have helped Cristiano Ronaldo. This could be his final major international tournament now that he is 36.

  1. Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe will be one of the most feared marksmen in the European Championship. Scoring four goals to help France win the tournament in Russia, Mbappe was a standout performer at the 2018 World Cup. The quickness of the PSG attacker makes him a headache for any defence, and opponents cannot simply look to contain the 22-year-old given the presence of Karim Benzema and Antoine Griezmann in the attack.

  1. Timo Werner

Last summer when Euro 2020 was supposed to be held Timo Werner was widely regarded as one of Europe’s hottest strikers, thanks to his form for RB Leipzig. However, his first season in English football has been difficult as the Chelsea striker has often appeared unsure of himself. Werner will now play in the Champions League as the Blues defeated Real Madrid in the top four.

  1. Robert Lewandowski

In the final match of the Bundesliga season for Bayern Munich, Robert Lewandowski scored 41 league goals this season and has exceeded Gerd Muller’s 49-year-old record of 40 goals. The difficulty now is to do it on an international level, after scoring only one goal in each of the last two European Championships and none at the 2018 World Cup. The Poland striker had 66 goals for his national team, averaging more than one goal every two games, proving his skill.
