Rundown of Champions League third qualifying round

Benfica beats Spartak Moscow and closes its meeting with PSV. The winner of PSV vs Midtjylland was drawn alongside the winner of Spartak Moscow vs Benfica. On Tuesday the Eindhoven team easily defeated Midtjylland 3-0 at home. PSV can now slowly prepare for a clash with Benfica. Winning 0-2 against the Spartak Moscow of base player Jorrit Hendrix the Portuguese were too strong in Russia.

Quincy Promes, who was deemed unfit, was not included in the lineup. The scoring was opened in the 51st minute by Joao Mario. He fired a close-range shot past Aleksandr Maksimenko. Fifteen minutes before the end Gilberto doubled the score and put the final score on the board.

In the return match, PSV will face Midtjylland in Denmark on Tuesday. On the same evening, Benfica and Spartak Moscow will face off.
