In the Champions League football qualifying round Malmo defeated Rangers. Thanks to three terrible second-half minutes, leaving Steven Gerrard’s men with nothing to do. After a 2-1 loss to Malmo, Rangers are fighting to keep their Champions League campaign alive according to results.

Conceding two goals in three second-half minutes in the first leg of their third qualifying round tie, Steven Gerrard’s men were undone. For the host Veljko Birmancevic was the standout performer. He maintained their lead after advancing through the first two rounds of qualifying.

Birmancevic’s right-wing cross was met by Soren Rieks’s brilliant 47th-minute volley, giving Sweden the lead. Two minutes later Birmancevic doubled the lead, slotting in off the post after capitalizing on a defensive blunder by Connor Goldson.

Steven Davis’s last-gasp deflected strike gave Rangers hope for the second leg. Rangers still need to score at least twice to advance to the next round of the playoffs in spite of the elimination of the away goals rule.

Malmo vs Rangers 2 – 1

Malmo beat Rangers scoring 2 goals scored by S. Rieks in 47 minute and V. Birmancevic in 49 minutes.

CFR Cluj vs Young Boys 1 – 1

CFR Cluj vs Young Boys managed to level as they played a tie of 1-1.

Genk vs Shakhtar Donetsk 1 – 2 

Tete and Alan Patrick helped Shakhtar Donetsk to win Champions League leg 1 of Champions League third qualifying round.

PSV vs Midtjylland 3 – 0

Midtjylland didn’t let PSV score a single goal as the 90 minutes match ended on a 3-0 score.

Crvena zvezda vs Sheriff 1 – 1

Crvena zvezda and Sheriff scored one goal each making it a draw.

Olympiacos vs Ludogorets 1 – 1

It was a tie between Olympiacos and Ludogorets. Players from both the team could manage to score only one goal.
