Liverpool defeated Newcastle United 3–1 in an English Premier League football match, coming back from a goal deficit. With this win, Liverpool has reduced the decision of points from Manchester City, who are in first place in the points table. Liverpool is second with 40 points from 17 matches.
The match between Liverpool and Newcastle was held amid rising cases of coronavirus. Nine matches have been postponed in a week due to the epidemic. The Liverpool team is also under the shadow of coronavirus and in this match three of its players were not available due to infection.
Earlier, for Newcastle United, Jonjo Shelvey made a shot from outside the box in the seventh minute which crossed the goal post. However, Liverpool also did not take long to make a comeback and Diogo Jota scored in the 21st minute to level the team. Four minutes later, Mohamed Salah scored from the center of the box for Liverpool to give the team a 2–1 lead. For the Reds, Trent Alexander Arnold scored a goal in the 87th minute from Roberto Firmino to make the match score 3-1. Liverpool retained this lead till the last whistle.
Liverpool will next face Tottenham on Super Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League at 4.30 pm, while Newcastle host Man City at 2.15 pm on Super Sunday, also live on Sky Sports Premier League.
