The Premier League has released its key dates for the 2022-23 season, including how it will deal with the World Cup, Sky Sports football news confirmed. Any Premier League players participating in the World Cup final next year will only have eight days to heal and relax before returning to domestic competition in England.

The major competitions will be obliged to take a break to accommodate the football tournament due to the fact that Qatar 2022 will be held in the middle of the European football calendar. The World Cup is scheduled to commence on November 21, 2022, and end on December 18, 2022, with the final slated for December 18.

As a result, the new 2022-23 season of Premier League will kick off a week earlier than usual. Next year EPL will begin on August 6 and will run until November 13, this will allow some international teams as little as eight days to prepare their rosters before the tournament begins.

The Premier League will then restart on Boxing Day, eight days after the World Cup final in Lusail, giving any England-based players engaged a short break before returning to domestic duty. Normally, giving the contending teams around two weeks to prepare with their players, including international friendlies, the World Cup would start in early June.

Similarly, after participating in a tournament players are generally given a vacation, but this will not be the case this time – the caveat is that footballers will have a long rest before pre-season due to the lack of significant international events. The last round of matches for the 2022-23 Premier League season will be played on May 28, 2023, which is a day later than usual.
