Mauricio Pochettino has remarked that Kylian Mbappe appears “cool” despite the uncertainties surrounding his Paris Saint-Germain contract. Mbappe, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, will stay at PSG until the end of the season as his current contract will not terminate by then. In the summer, the Madrid football club made two proposals for Mbappe, but he chose to stay in Paris, much to the player’s chagrin.
Despite this, Pochettino claims Mbappe’s concentration has not been harmed this season. “I think the club was strong. The idea was for him to stay with us and Mbappe seems calm,” Pochettino told ‘Universo Valdano’ according to Marca. “He’s a great professional and he has respected his contractual situation. He’s an intelligent lad, young but mature. As a footballer he’s extraordinary. A world champion. He’s the present and the future.”
Over the last few weeks, Mbappe’s future has been a hot topic in the media. Carlo Ancelotti and Karim Benzema have both intimated that he may join Real Madrid, but this prompted PSG sporting director Leonardo to criticize Los Blancos for their lack of respect.
Mbappe himself has spoken out about the matter, stating that he asked to join the La Liga giants in the summers and expressing disappointment that the club did not allow him to leave. All of this seemed to point to his departure from PSG. On the other hand, Mbappe’s mother has stated that contract talks with the Ligue 1 club are going well, suggesting that he may stay after all.
