Former Barcelona star Paulinho is interested in a return to Camp Nou. Following his departure to China, he has issued a come-get-me plea to the Catalan giants. At the age of 32, the midfielder is looking for a new team after he has left Guangzhou, serving the team for three years in China.
Paulinho spent a year at Barcelona between 2017 and 2018, winning the La Liga title and the Copa del Rey, before returning to China on a loan deal that would eventually become permanent. The Brazilian became a free agent ahead of next season and looking for a move back to Camp Nou.
Speaking on his desire to return to Barcelona, Paulinho said: “Barça is a team that I know well. I spent an unforgettable year there, both at the club and in the city, and we won the League and the Copa del Rey. If I had another chance, and it was something good for both me and my family, I would be delighted.”
The 32-year-old has even stated that he will play on the cheap in order to aid Barcelona’s financial situation. “For me, the theme of money or the duration of the contract would be a problem, they never have been, and even less if Barca are the team who calls,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“I have already shown when I left Guangzhou to go there for much less of what is perceived in China. Money has never been at the front in my career, so it would not be a problem in returning there. Also, the club would not have to pay a transfer fee for me.”
Barcelona has already wrapped up three free signings, including footballer Sergio Aguero, Memphis Depay, and Eric Garcia.
