Neymar helped PSG beat Bordeaux

PSG extended their lead from Ligue 1 to 10 points, with two goals from Brazilian striker Neymar and another from Kylian Mbappe helping them beat Girondins Bordeaux on 3-2 match score. Neymar scored twice in the first half, thanks to a pair of decisive passes from French winner Mbappe, who opened the scoring in the 26th minute, with a clean shot to two defenders inside the pass bar.

The second goal was of better quality, with Neymar running to the left and a one-two exchange with Mbappe, who kept the Brazilian with a steady heel for clinical finishing in the bottom corner. Mbappe made it 3–0 with a simple goal when Georginio Wijnaldum beat the offside trap and passed the ball to the striker, who blocked Bordeaux goalkeeper Benoit Costil in the 63rd minute.

Alberth Elis of the home team came close to a 79-minute lead in the game. His shot came from the right-hand side, but Keylor Navas managed to save it with an incredible reaction stop. PSG, who took a 3-0 lead in a tense final before they beat Bordeaux, has 34 points from 13 games, ahead of second-placed Lens, who beat Troyes 4 at home on Friday, while Bordeaux finished 16th with 12 points.

Mbappe admitted that the costly PSG team, which was missing Lionel Messi due to a knee injury, was still a work in progress, but dismissed criticism that it did not live up to expectations. “Everyone has the right to have their own opinion, some think we are playing poorly, but I don’t think we are playing very well at the moment,” he said.

“We need to improve and we will continue to work hard. Today we showed our mettle because we had spells in which we played at a very high level. The goals we achieved were avoidable, but in the end we felt comfortable. We try to improve every day and we hope to get better and better.”
