Neroca FC defeated Sreenidi Deccan 3-2 on the back of a hat-trick from Spain striker Sergio Mendiguchia, playing his first match in the Hero I-League. The goal scorers for league debutant Sreenidi Deccan were Girik Khosla and David Castenada Munoz in the 41st minute and the 59th minute respectively. However, the Manipur team managed to grab three points with a hat-trick by Sergio (15th, 22nd, 49th).
Neroca took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to their new player, Sergio. He scored this goal on a free kick from Spain’s player Juan Mera. The pair of Sergio and Mera scored another goal in the 22nd minute. Mera took possession of the ball on the freekick and passed it to Sergio, who made no mistake in scoring. Khosla scored 1-2 in the 41st minute.
Sergio scored another goal in the 49th minute after half-time to score a hat-trick in his debut match. Castenada cut Neroca’s lead in the 59th minute with a header but Sreenidi Deccan could not be saved from defeat.
In another I-League match Real Kashmir beat Aizawl with two goals from Tiago Adan. His double strike helped Real Kashmir start their first match of the I-League football tournament with a 3-2 match score win over Aizawl FC in a thrilling encounter.
For Real Kashmir, popularly known as Snow Leopard, Tiago (8th, 45+2nd minute) scored in the first half and Mason Robertson (66th minute) scored in the second half. Lalthakima Ralte (38th minute) and Ramhalunchunga (85th) scored a goal each for Aizawl.
With two goals from Tiago, Real Kashmir were ahead 2-1 at half time. Mason took Real Kashmir’s lead 3-1 after halftime. Ramhalunchhunga scored in the last minute but he could not avoid the defeat of Aizawl’s team.
