Mumbai City hopes to beat NorthEast United in ISL

Moving on from a crushing 0-3 loss to Kerala Blasters, leaders Mumbai City FC will look to get back on track and consolidate their position when they take on NorthEast United FC in their Indian Super League match in India on Monday. NorthEast United is ninth in the standings with 11 points, having won just two from eight matches. They lost their previous football match against ATK Mohun Bagan, but they showed fighting spirit.

The Highlanders’ bright spot so far has been VP Suhair, who has become NorthEast United’s top Indian scorer after scoring against ATK Mohun Bagan. Suhair has really prospered under Jamil, and this is reflected in the remarkable improvement in the number of shots and the rate at which he creates chances.

“It’s a good team. We should be positive. We can beat them and we must have faith. We need a team and a unit,” Jamil said. Mumbai would like to believe that the defeat to Kerala in their prosperous form was just a problem. With 15 points from seven matches, the team coached by Des Buckingham will look to cement their place at the top of the tree.

There are nine different players in Mumbai who have contributed in scoring or assisting this season. They have five players with more contributions with three or more goals. No team has more players with three or more contributions this season. Igor Angulo has scored five goals, while Ahmed Jahouh has scored five goals. Apart from these two, Bipin Singh, Yagor Catatau and Cassio Gabriel have three goals each, emphasizing the collective effort in the third attack.

“Every team in this league is capable of defeating anyone. We have seen this not only in our games, but in general as well. Our job is to prepare and make sure we keep working hard,” Buckingham said.
