Messi’s double helped PSG win against RB Leipzig

PSG made a comeback from a 2-1 deficit to win 3-2 against a spirited RB Leipzig team thanks to Lionel Messi’s double strike in the second half on Tuesday night. In Champions League Group A, after three games Mauricio Pochettino’s side has reclaimed the top spot one point ahead of Man City in second.

PSG made Leipzig pay for their squandering within the first ten minutes of the football match, cutting them open with a free-flowing counterattack that was eventually finished by Kylian Mbappe. As the first half proceeded Leipzig surged into the game, with Andre Silva hitting the woodwork with a half-volley just before the half-hour mark. Silva scored minutes later, sliding in Angelino’s cross at the back post.

After the first half, Leipzig took the lead, with Angelino assisting again, this time crossing for Nordi Mukiele to score. After a poor start to the second half, PSG scored an equalizer with 66 minutes on the clock. Mbappe and Messi combined to equalize the scores. The Frenchman brought it back expertly, and La Pulga tapped in the rebound after his first effort was stopped.

Shortly, Mohamed Simakan pulled down Mbappe in the box and Messi scored again with a magnificent Panenka spot-kick that made Gulacsi look ridiculous. In an attempt to save the game, Leipzig responded by bringing on attacking reinforcements, but PSG held on to take the three points.

Mbappe squandered a chance to make it 4-2, firing his own penalty over after Messi had conceded a chance to complete his hat trick. Watch football highlights as PSG win against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
