Marcus Rashford believes Cristiano Ronaldo can lead Manchester United to glory after returning to Old Trafford from Juventus. With the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford, Marcus Rashford is ecstatic and hopes the superstar forward can give Manchester United a “push” to win trophies. After leaving the Red Devils 12 years ago the Portuguese returned to his old club on a football transfer signing two years contract.
In 2017, when Jose Mourinho won the EFL Cup and the Europa League for the first time United last won silverware without Ronaldo and have not won the Premier League since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. On the other hand, Rashford believes that the return of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo may be the catalyst the team requires to achieve success.
“[Having Ronaldo back at the club is] a great feeling for me as a player, but also as a fan of the club as well,” Rashford told BBC Breakfast. “It’s always nice when a club legend finds a way back to the club. To be playing with him back at Old Trafford is a terrific feeling and hopefully gives us a push to start winning more trophies.”
Recently Rashford was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Manchester for his work against child poverty. The 23-year-old returned to full training at the beginning of October and hopes to be back in action shortly. “My recovery is I wouldn’t say coming to an end, because obviously I have to keep looking after it, but I’m in a much better place physically and mentally,” Rashford added.
“Last year was a very long season for me, I got this injury at the end of September, and gradually it got that little bit worse, but now I’m fully free of that, I feel much better physically and mentally.”
