Manchester United confirms deal with Real Madrid for Raphael Varane

Manchester United and Real Madrid have reached a transfer agreement of French center-back Raphael Varane. The defender will sign a four-year contract with an option for a further year. The transfer fee is indicated to be valued at around €50 million in football transfer news live

“Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphaël Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalised,” the club wrote on their official website.

Manchester United confirmed the big news on their Instagram Handle. “We have agreed a deal in principle for the transfer of @RaphaelVarane to United!” 

Having signed Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho last week, the 28-year-old defender is set to be United’s next signing. During his Real Madrid career he has won 18 titles: 4 Champions Leagues, 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 3 LaLiga titles, 1 Copa del Rey, and 3 Spanish Super Cups.

Los Blancos issued a statement to announce the deal – “Real Madrid C. F. and Manchester United FC have agreed the transfer of Raphaël Varane.”

Varane made his senior career debut at Lens joining the team in 2010. He played 23 games for the French club and scored 2 goals, before joining Real Madrid. In June 2011 Varane arrived at the Spanish club where he was assigned number 19 shirt. In a span of 10 years, he has made 236 appearances and netted 8 goals. Now wearing the number 5 jersey the Frenchman is set to make a move to Manchester United. 

The Madrid club thanked varane for 4 ChampionsLeague, 4 Club World Cup, 3 UEFA Super Cup, 3 La Liga, 1 Copa Del Rey and 3 Supercopa de España.

“Real Madrid would like to express their gratitude to Raphaël Varane and his family and wish him the best of luck in this new stage of his career,” the club added.
