Paris Saint-Germain unveiled Lionel Messi (PSGxMessi) yesterday in a press conference after signing the Argentine star on two years contract. The French club confirmed the football transfer for around 35 million euros per year including bonuses. In the Press meeting that was conducted on Wednesday at PSG, Lionel Messi spoke publically for the first time as a Parisian.
Former Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has shared his thoughts and expectations for the new PSG era. “I am very grateful to the fans, this is just crazy. Thank you. We’ll have plenty of time to meet and talk. I hope there’s a great season ahead. It’s hard to win the Champions League. You need a really strong team. Luck is also essential. Sometimes the best team is unable to win the trophy. We [PSG] want to win the Champions League”, – Messi told the press, as per RMC Sport.
He continued, “I am happy. Everyone knows it was difficult to leave Barca but I am very happy at PSG now. I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter in my career in Paris. The club and his vision are a perfect match for my ambitions. I’m determined to build something great for the club and the fans.”
RMC Sport reports what Messi said at the press conference, “I can’t wait to step onto the pitch at the Parc des Princes. Before I left, I had told the Barça fans that I would always be grateful for their love. They knew I would sign with a strong club. I am a winner.”
“PSG and I have the same goals. I don’t know if I will ever play against Barça. On the one hand, it would be great, but on the other – playing at home in a different shirt would be strange,” he added. The Argentine has signed a 2-year contract with PSG football club with an option to extend and will be seen wearing the number 30 shirt at his new club.
