As a part of the World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign, Brazil took on Argentina in Sao Paolo. However, only in the 8th minute, the football match was suspended after the Brazilian Health Authorities [Anvisa] invaded the pitch to oust four players, who violated COVID-19 restrictions traveling from the UK. Paris Saint-Germain and Argentine international superstar Lionel Messi appealed to the Brazilian Health Authorities [Anvisa] after his national team’s match was halted.
“We’ve been here [in Brazil] for 3 days. And nothing happened. Why did they wait for the game to start? It’s a disgrace. This place is a circus” – asked Lionel Messi. “The whole world is watching us”, – the Argentine added, as per RMC Sport.
Brazilian Health Authorities [Anvisa] have stormed onto the pitch to deport 4 Argentine players including Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendia (both from Aston Villa), Giovani Lo Celso, and Cristian Romero (both from Tottenham), TyC Sports reports the football news.
World Cup 2022 Qualifier clash between Brazil and Argentina in Sao Paolo was interrupted after knowing the above-mentioned players lied to enter the country providing false data to the officials stating they had not visited the United Kingdom recently. [There’s a rule saying all the visitors from the UK are obliged to quarantine for 14 days upon entering the country which these players obviously had not followed]
It was previously reported that Anvisa contacted the police to detain the players at the hotel and deport them. However, all four had already left the hotel and took the bus for the game when law enforcement officials arrived.
