La Liga: Barcelona holds a draw with Sevilla

Sevilla defender Jules Konndé was immediately shown a red card for hitting an opponent’s player in the face, which Barcelona took advantage of in a 1-1 draw in the Spanish Football League La Liga match. Papu Gomez gave Sevilla the lead in the 32nd minute and just before halftime, Ronald Araujo scored for Barcelona.

Konndé was shown a red card in the 64th minute of the football match, after which Sevilla took a defensive approach. The draw puts Sevilla five points behind top-ranked Real Madrid but remains in second place as before. Barcelona is in seventh place with 28 points recording two wins two loss and a draw from the last five games.

Barcelona’s former player and now coach Xavi Hernandez was happy with his team’s performance but not the result against Sevilla on Tuesday. Speaking after the match he said, “Honestly I think we dropped two points today. We deserved to win. We were very good. The team is growing and has improved in many aspects.”

Xavi added: “We wanted a win to go to the Champions League spots but it wasn’t to be today. Proud despite the draw. We didn’t have luck in front of goal. Gavi’s header, Dembele’s effort that hit the post at the end. It was a mistake off a setpiece when we conceded. We’ll work on that. The team competes and is improving. I am proud of the team, but not of the draw.”
