Jimenez return to Premier League - “feels like a player again”

Wolves forward Raul Jimenez hints at a teammate during Premier League return against Leicester City. Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez says he “feels like a player again” after returning to the Premier League. The Mexican player is back to the game nine months after suffering a skull fracture.

The 30-year-old played a full 90 minutes in Wolves’ loss to Leicester. It was the first competitive match he was involved in since playing traumatic injuries against Arsenal. “I always thought that after I recover, I’ll be back to doing what I love to do,” Jimenez said. “I never thought of ending my career. There were possibilities, but I always believed that I would be back,” he added.

Leicester City’s forward Jamie Vardy, who scored the only goal in Saturday’s football match of 1-0 win, and other Leicester players congratulated Jimenez on his return from a career-threatening injury during the game. When he plays now, Jimenez has to wear a modified protective gear to suit his liking – and he feels “very comfortable” over the weekend.

He said: “Ever since I started training with the team, there have been a lot of head defenses. I feel confident. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t use it. I play normally. The doctors told me it is a protection to prevent something. At the moment it could be more dangerous for me than any other player. I know that I have to live like doctors and surgeons.”
