Jesse Lingard is in Solskjaer’s plan for Manchester United

As speculation about the future of Jesse Lingard continues Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has stated that the attacker is in his plans “at the moment” for the 2021/22 campaign. Since 2011 Lingard has been a part of United’s team, but he has been playing on loan with different clubs.

In the second half of the last season, the 28-year-old impressed during his loan spell at West Ham United. He scored nine goals and provided five assists in 16 appearances for Hammers.

While several Premier League clubs have shown interest in securing Lingard’s signature, either on loan or permanently, West Ham has considered a permanent move for the Englishman. Following Manchester United’s pre-season match against Derby County on Sunday, Solskjaer insisted that Lingard is ‘in his plans’, although he did suggest the situation could change before the start of next season.

Solskjaer has lavished praise on the attacker and revealed that he is in the club’s plans “for the time being,” but the Manchester United manager has refused to guarantee the future of Jesse Lingard. “He came seven or eight days later than the rest but he’s a naturally fit boy,” the Manchester Evening News quotes Solskjaer as saying. “He’s a man, he played with a few boys but he’s one of the men!”

“Jesse has come back, been bright, he wants to fight for his place and there’s nothing better than seeing players want to fight for their place. What he did towards the end of last season, that’s the true Jesse, that’s what we know he’s capable of and, for us, I think we saw towards the end that we lacked some options at times and Jesse is in the plans at the moment, yeah.”
